Another Etsy Goodie..and a little bit more!

pictures courtesy of Megan at Sihouetteblue

My love for etsy continues. I found Silhouette Blue from a link my SIL sent me on her birthday wish list. I ordered the hula hoop cards for her and also ordered the baby card for a new mom that I know. The stationary came wrapped in pretty blue tissue with a brown bow. Megan was extremely nice to work with too. She has some really cute things and the history of how she started is pretty interesting also. Check her out. I think you will be glad you did.

New socks for Ryan! When he was a toddler he had two pairs of socks that I made him. He wore them all the time and would proudly tell his teachers and classmates that I handknit them! He has been bugging me to make him a new pair which I promptly set to work on. I'm not too sure his love of the sock is still there though. I have finished this one and asked him to try it on...but he won't. I think, he thinks, he will hurt my feelings if he doesn't like them. It's not going to bother me at all. I just want to know so I can rip them out and make them bigger. I love them!

I post this flower for the lady in the grocery store today. I went to tell the people at the service desk that the bottle machines were full. When I came back, she had taken my place in line and told me that there was no deposits on the machine. I looked at her with shock..because I could clearly see that there was $1.50 registering on the machine. Money that is split between the boys for gathering all the cans and bottles and placing them in the car. I just smiled and told her to have a nice day...maybe she needed it to buy gas.

I'm Getting There

I've been experimenting with my header. I'm getting to where I want to be but I want it centered. Any suggestions? I have absolutely no coding experience whatsoever. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

We Made It....

and I'm already counting the days until September. No, not really but we did have a rocky start to summer vacation!

Yesterday in celebration of the ending of the year we went to the beach with favorite friends. The boys fished, swam, and just relaxed! The weather was warm and the fish were biting! Not such a bad way to start the summer!

So in celebration of a great year for the boys I've been shopping on etsy. I figured if they could celebrate so could I! Have I told you how much I LOVE etsy? It truly is my new addiction. I could spend hours over there. A while back I decided I needed to upgrade my stitch markers and get away from the little plastic circles. I discovered KNIT and purchased. I was happy with what I ordered and marked her site as a favorite. The other day I decided to take a peek again. That's when I discovered this wonderful sock yarn. I can not wait to knit this! It's soft and squishy and I adore the flecks!

To me, summer means reading. My pick at the moment is Life Class by Pat Barker. It's enjoyable so far. I only wish I could read more than three pages before falling asleep at night. It's tough getting old!

In the car we are listening to The Tales of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillio. I would recommend any of her books. All are wonderful!

Lastly, if you are looking for a really great read aloud for upper elementary (especially boys) try Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It has been around for ages but catches the reader's or listener's interest immediately! It was a favorite of mine to read when I was teaching.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Is It Over Yet?

Okay...I wrote a really snarky post but then deleted it. Not gonna go where I was going. Let's just say it's been a really long week of activities.

I'm glad it's Friday and that I only have one more lunch to make.

...and one more batch of cookies to make.
...and by Wednesday it will be all over for another year!

Love this outfit! I wish the skirt was a bit longer. Stacy and Clinton would have a problem with an older woman wearing it. At times, I find it comforting that the Satorialist would take a picture of an outfit that I would actually wear. The handbag is fantastic too!
Have a wonder Summer Solstice evening. Hopefully, the sun is shining where you are...because it sure isn't here!

Happy Father's Day!

My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, "You're tearing up the grass." "We're not raising grass," Dad would reply. "We're raising boys." ~Harmon Killebrew

Actual Knitting Content

Believe it or not, I actually finished something. Baseball has provided me with many opportunities to knit on various projects. In fact, I have two other projects that are right behind this baby throw. I like the colors and the look of this little blanket. The baby's room where it will reside is made up of this color combination. What I disliked about knitting this little throw is the garter stitch. If you make a mistake it's very noticeable. So as the action got exciting at the baseball field (I know...you are asking yourself "when exactly does that happen?) I would make an error and have to redo. I definitely would make this again if I was in need of a quick baby present.

Specs can be found over at my Flickr page.

It's that time of the year again and yes that does mean concerts! Last night, Matt had his orchestra concert. They did very well and have come a long way since last year's fourth grade Christmas concert. Only occasional squeaks can be heard here and there!
Well done, Matt!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sights From Our Weekend

With the warm weather, my garden is starting to bloom with color. Enjoy!

Allium providing dinner.

Tiny daisies growing throughout the yards in our neighborhood.

My poppies. Bought them a few years ago at White Flower Farm. They use to have a catalogue but now just an online service. You can also visit them in Connecticut. Well worth the visit if you are near. They carry many hard to find and unique varieties.

Summer feet....Difficult to get this child into the shower on a semi regular basis. I know, I know this will all change in a few years!

Random Thoughts...

Thank goodness for the Sartorialist! If I didn't have him I wouldn't have anything to blog about!

I LOVE white...but I don't wear it. I'm I the only one who puts on a white dress and then tries to see if I'm showing myself to the world? I really love this dress...but I would be to nervous to wear it. The shoes are way out of my comfort zone.

This dress is more me. In fact, I probably have a few of this style hanging in my closet right at this moment. I love everything about her style and I would wear these shoes!

Lastly, for anyone that is stopping here for knitting content, I will have some new FO up by the end of the week!

Enjoy my bleeding hearts! They are almost gone...but the poppies are blooming!

well, hello there...

I thought I might start writing again.  Not sure what I will want to talk about.  The guys have their own lives and are making...
