Historically, Mother's Day has not been a stellar day around here (I'll also add my birthday in here too). It's too much pressure for my boys. They try, oh they try, not to fight and whine, but, it doesn't work and we usually end the day tired and worn out from the stress of it all.
As my kids grow, I realize that Mother's Day isn't important to me at all. It never really was. Being a mom is about raising children to be polite and considerate, loving and kind. Compassionate towards others. Gentle.
My Mother's Day occurs when:
I receive compliments about my boys,
there's laughter in our house,
they make awesome plays in baseball,
I see them help a friend,
and help each other.
My Mother's Day is when:
they help around the house(and they weren't asked),
school mornings go smoothly,
they read and learn,
we eat as a family,
and all are home and quiet.
My Mother's Day is:
having the boys sit with me
and we just
discuss stuff.
Gentle teasing about girls,
and
Still getting a hug and kiss when not looking.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Mother's Day, Jane!
Happy mother's day and I promise not to fight or whine all weekend :)
Exactly.
Here's to every day being filled with some of the things that make it Mother's Day.
xo
Oh, I have to print this and hang it up. I have had a similar history with mother's days/birthdays. This year, I will celebrate it like you do.
My version of being the gift giver under pressure is Christmas. The build-up to Christmas morning can be so great that nothing can live up to the hype.
Thanks for this one Jane!
Sounds like a perfect Mother's Day to me, too! Here's to hoping we get to check a bunch of those on that list Sunday!
;)...Happy Mother's Day to you Jane~
sounds like the perfect mother's day, to me.
happy mother's day, jane!
i have a feeling your boys are going to grow into great men!
This is a nice post. I'm going to be home alone on Mother's day but you've reminded me that Mother's Day really is when my daughter comes home and we spend good time together, Thanks for reminding me!
I agree with you. Mother's day is a day when my children think globally - outside themselves. Mother's day is when I hear them share laughter. Mother's day is when we sit at the dinner table together and laugh.
I love this, very sweet and well put! I agree :)
I hope you get everything you deserve for Mother's day!
Enjoy your day. :)
beautifully written Jane! I couldn't agree with you more - all our days are mother's days. Enjoy your boys this weekend and have a wonderful Mother's Day - without all the pressures.
I think many of us have Mother's Days and birthdays that are similar! This was beautifully written. Thank you and Happy Mother's Day!

not a big deal here, either. I'm very okay with that. I did recieve some adorable handmade cards, and extra hugs, and then we went about an ordinary sunday routine. I made dinner. I think I prefer it this way.
Nevertheless, I'll take this opportunity to wish you a joyful day, and hearty congratulations on your wonderful parenting.
oh gosh. Here too. Mine are pretty good today, but my birthday was a nightmare. Hope it was a good day, mama. you deserve it.
oh that was so beautifully put, i almost started to cry! it's all so true....
hope you had a lovely weekend
Now thats perfectly how it should be. All I like on mothers day is a handmade card from my son!
jane... that couldn't have been said more perfectly!!!
happy days to YOU!
