Feeling Blue

Thought this guy was looking sorta sad the day I saw him (her?). Suffering from the mid-winter blues today and it's too early to start wishing for Spring.

You're So Vain

Conversation yesterday morning...

"Honey, do you think you could sew a few buttons on a couple of pair of pants."

"Sure, do you have the buttons?"

"Nope, don't know what happened to them."

"Are your pants beginning to pull a bit?"

"No, they're just getting old."

Wishing!

The family is getting to the point of the year where we start wishing for events to hurry up and arrive. Both boys will be celebrating birthdays soon, Valentine's Day, travel hockey tournaments and our annual trip to Seaside, Florida. We travel to Florida from New York while my brother and his wife travel from Dallas. It is a time for our family to bond with their aunt and uncle which they only see a few times a year. A couple of years ago we added a new family to our crew! They have a little girl that is three and just had a newborn in December! The boys are excited to play big brother to the older daughter.
It is a carefree time of the year that we are lucky to enjoy!

Snowflakes...Up Close

Not sure if this will come through or not. Click on the picture to see snowflakes up close. I played around with my photo program and came up with this. I wish I knew how to dull the background a bit so the snowflakes can stand out even more.

This and That

Lately,I have been fooling around with my camera. I got this glitzy camera for Christmas last year and still have no idea how to use it. I get a lot of blurry pictures but I think it is due to my eyesight. You know when you hit the big 4-0 the eyes start to go!

Had my youngest home sick today with strep throat so I got a lot done around the house. Bathrooms are clean and sparkly! Yuck... how I hate to clean the bathroom!

I read many different blogs and am always struck at how the person that is writing it can write something so profound. Yet, when I sit down to post I have nothing! Nadda! Not one thing of importance crosses my brain! I think that I think too much. I don't let the thoughts come as they should. Probably, because I had an English teacher way back in high school that told me that I couldn't write! Then I went to college and got an English professor that told me that I was a natural when it came to writing. Terrific, I thought! But then found out he said that to all the incoming freshman so he could sleep with them! Needless to say, I stayed away from writing until I became a teacher. I felt that if I was going to teach the importance of writing to my students that I needed to become a better writer.

I need to go knit. I am working on a baby sweater for a friend and need to finish it before the baby turns 10!

These are my hockey guys. Yes, I am a hockey mom through and through. This weekend our plate is full. Between the two boys we have potentially six games. My husband and I knew what we were getting ourselves into when this started. I knew that I would have a lot of time to knit seeing that I was going to be at the rink at least three times a week, just for practices, not to mention games. They enjoy it and have fun. They are getting exercise. They are working to play as a team and the art of skating is natural for them now. We are so very proud of their dedication and determination! So why would I rather go to the SU basketball game this weekend??

Winter's Back!

Yesterday we had Lake Effect snow all day. The boys were excited to wake up to find that they had a snow day! That was such a great feeling as a kid when you realized that you had an unexpected day off from school.

Happy New Year!

Friends of ours invited us over to watch fireworks last night. The boys ran and played while grown-ups enjoyed cocktails. We were all home by 10 pm. My husband and oldest stayed up to midnight to watch the ball drop. Needless to say little one and I fell asleep at eleven.

Random thoughts! It has been a coughing, cold virus vacation, which will end tomorrow! Yea! I want to get back to a routine, send my husband back to work and get my house in order. Please send some snow this way. I am so tired of wiping the dog's paws. And yes, I do hope it is a better year than last. Last year wasn't in our top 20 and I am afraid we will receive some news at the beginning of this year that isn't going to be too good either. Oh well....I just have to stay positive about everything else! Enjoy the picture of what winter usually looks like around here! It is 52 degrees here today!

well, hello there...

I thought I might start writing again.  Not sure what I will want to talk about.  The guys have their own lives and are making...
