Santa Cruz Hoodie...

Recently, my step-mom, asked me to knit a sweater for a baby shower. So, I gathered my pattern books so she could take a peek to see what she liked. At the last moment I printed off Leslie's gift to Keana. Well, of course, she adored Leslie's! What's not to like? I was sorta glad that she picked the Santa Cruz hoodie, because I had less than two weeks to knit it up. It looked quick and easy on those number 10's and 11's!

Not knowing that the book was out of print I agreed. Three LYS later and four libraries, I found the pattern. I've never looked at this book, thinking it was just an actress trying to make a bit of money, but when I actually sat down to read through it, I found that I really enjoyed some of the patterns. I'm planning on purchasing Knit 2 Together and adding it to my collection.

Having two boys of my own, I wanted a work horse yarn that was easy to wash and dry. My step-mom didn't want to spend a ton of money...so Lion Brand Wool-ease chunky was a good choice.

As I was knitting this up, I had two requests from Matt and Ryan. They both proclaimed that it would make a great lazy sweater for just hanging around. I totally agree!

great job Jane! that heathered green color makes a truly sophisticated baby sweater. it looks like it will fit well for next winter too - your sweater will get lots of love.

Don't you hate when you end up volunteering to knit someone something and then tracking down the pattern becomes harder than knitting it? Recently, I offered to knit someone a baby sweater (long story, the "offering" part, but it amounts to I'm stupid), and then promised them one for which I couldn't find the pattern. THREE stores later, finally find it, buy the book, and then am too embarrassed to tell the woman I bought it because then she'll add it onto the cost of the already pricey yarn and I will feel bad about that, too. For the sweater I'm making FOR HER. Meanwhile, back at the ranch (I guess this part of the story was also long...) she hasn't paid me for the yarn yet, either. So. Oh well. I should just wear a kick me sign.

haha. rachel cracks me up.
it must be in the "knitting gene"!!!!

it is ADORABLE, jane.
i wonder if my boys would wear this?! charlie wears his socks almost daily... even the ones with the pink stripe that my mom made, that never wore, so she sent them to me, and i gifted them to charlie. :)

I love this sweater. It's such a great alternative to a traditional sweatshirt. And so much CUTER!
